Glue for Polymer Clay – Tipping Tuesday .007

Sometimes, you just have to attach polymer clay parts together. Or maybe you need to fix small breakages, things happen. I use cyanoacrylate adhesive or simply put Super Glue for polymer clay! Here’s the particular brand and bottle shape I like to use. It doesn’t dry out quickly and it’s easy to dispense in small amounts. Additionally, you can use it in vertical application. This means, your figurine or creation can stand upright while you glue it together. This is very important if you have a figurine that can’t stand on its own or if you just can’t attach the part in horizontal position.

The brand that I use is Loctite Super Glue Gel Control. It can be found in most hardware stores and online.

A hand holding a bottle of Loctite Super glue for polymer clay. The bottle is gray, with light blue label. The cap is darker blue. On each side of the bottle, there are dark blue buttons that dispense glue when pushed on.

By the way, you can use this glue even before backing polymer clay if you ever need that. However, be sure to check safety data sheet before you do that to make sure the temperature doesn’t exceed the limit. Additionally, I use this it to attach polymer clay to fabric on my art dolls and other materials. However, I would not trust this to make a strong connection with metal as the surface of the metal is just too smooth. I had stud earrings come apart with it. It’s best to secure the bond with polymer clay cover rather than glue.

Super Glue comes in different shapes and under different brands. Therefore, any cyanoacrylate adhesive will work!
